Industrial wastewater treatment

Industrial wastewater varies considerably in specification, depending on type of industry and local habits. In many cases it is not accepted by the municipal wastewater treatment plant, so pre-treatment or complete on-site treatment is needed. Alfa Laval offers several compact, easy-to-operate wastewater treatment technologies that produce clean effluent either for discharge or further treatment for water reuse.

On-site industrial wastewater treatment – also an untapped water resource

Alfa Laval technologies for biological treatment of industrial wastewater are ideal for removal of nutrients, organic matter, fats, oil and grease (FOG), and other undesirable substances and micro particles. They are characterized by high efficiency, flexibility and small footprint – with all steps in the same tank.

Where influent flow and organic loads vary and effluent requirements are stringent, the Alfa Laval AS-H Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) with our patented floating decanter is a good choice for secondary biological treatment. Combine it with the Alfa Laval AS-H Iso-Disc® Cloth Media Filter for

Wastewater - an untapped water resource

More and more people realize that wastewater can also be a valuable resource. There are many good reasons to consider reusing biologically treated municipal and industrial wastewater: Reuse water resources, reduce freshwater intake, and reduce effluent treatment costs.

Reclaimed water can be used for numerous applications, e.g., industrial process water, cooling towers, wash water, surface irrigation of crops, vineyards, and golf courses; recreation lakes, wetlands, wildlife habitat, and groundwater recharge.

Water treated with Alfa Laval MBR or an AS-H Iso-Disc filtration system is an excellent technology for indirect portable reuse (IPR) or direct potable reuse (DPR) when a final polishing technology such as UV disinfection, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, activated carbon, ozonatione, or chlorination
